A TUDOR STYLE HOME OF 1978

Although the heyday of Tudor style was during the first decades of the Twentieth Century, small numbers of homes have been decked out with Tudor design elements  in later decades. Here's a rendering and floorplan for a home illustrated in the Summer, 1978 edition of Better Homes And Gardens Building Ideas.

Like the 1920's Tudor cottages of Greenland Hills, this home has a steep-pitched roof, faux half-timbering, and an entry door topped by a semicircular arch.

The charm of this Tudor adaptation, reminiscent of Old England, could hardly be improved upon. It's fine proportions and exquisite use of exterior materials of half-timber, stucco, multipaned windows, steep hipped roof, and door trimmed with  circular entrance result in a most distinctive home. The attached garage with its hipped dormer and diamond-shaped leaded window, and the extended wall add impact to this design.

Designed to contribute to a feeling of personal luxury, the master bedroom suite has a dressing area with three closets and a private bath with mirrored vanity and tiled shower stall. Each of the other three bedrooms is served by the main bath, which has a tub and a full-length mirrored vanity.
